Payload Transmitter

The transmitter we are using is a MicroTrak 8000FA. It has the built in ability to receive NMEA GPS information, and transmit APRS, including callsign. It transmits in the 2 meter band and has the ability to adjust the frequency. It can transmit from 100mW to 8W. It is just a transmitter and allows us to transmit the balloon's GPS coordinate, but the balloon will not be able to receive any transmissions back. This may change in later revisions on REHAB.

We will be transitting on the standard 144.39MHz frequency for 2 meter APRS. We will reduce power down to about 300mW to send a clear signal while conserving power.
